Soooooooooo many miracles this week! A lot of stuff went in our favour and all thanks goes to God! If it weren't for the spirit we wouldn't be able to do the things that we do. Miracles abound in this mission!
The first miracle we saw this week was me getting out of bed on Tuesday, and every other day. This week has been so spiritually draining, in a good way. When you teach by the spirit so much it takes a toll on you.
1 Nephi 1:7 sums it up pretty well
"And it came to pass that he returned to his own house at [Cordata]; and he cast himself upon his bed, being overcome with the Spirit and the things which he had seen."
The second miracle occurred on an exchange in Lynden! We went on exchanges with my old comp who's now the DL, Elder McPherson! It was great to be back in the area, and I was able to say hi to a few members and friends that we taught last transfer. We did a knocking session with the awesome service missionary Elder Anderson, and it wasn't looking so good. We went to knock the last door, and oh man was this woman elect. Abby let us into her home and we taught her about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and she loved it! Perhaps the best doorknock that I've had. The only downside is that she's in the lynden area and not in the laurel area because she is really elect and eager to learn more.
The second miracle we saw was on thursday. We got a referral that we went to visit, but the address took us to a martial arts centre. Not sure if there was a message in there, but we did spot a Woods Coffee (its a surprise tool that we'll save for later) and there was another one nearby. We went and visited him, but he lives somewhere you need to have a key to get in and we didn't see a callbox or anything. We call him up on our phone and he's super chill! He's down ti come to church, and when we were setting up a time to meet, I motioned to my comp that we should do it the now. We met up at the afore mentioned woods coffee and had a great lesson! He also came to church, and pmg says that people found their first week who come to church are 10x more likely to get baptised! I'm not sure what the stats are on that, but it fills me with hope. We had a great lesson, ordered a drink (it was a hot chocolate. I'm not gonna break the word of wisdom for a third time on the mission) and gave him a Book of Mormon!
The third miracle we saw was on Friday.
Our friend Justin who we've been meeting with for a while has expressed interest in baptism! It was such a spirit filled and fueled lesson. His pets are really cute as well, and would snuggle up to us as we taught. Awesome lesson! So naturally, in celebration we went and got five guys after and had a great time
The fourth miracle we saw was with our friend Eric. He's on date for baptism on the 6th of June, so we went through the baptismal interview questions with him. I have a mixed experience with teaching people the baptismal interview questions. It's either taken 15 mins, or two hours because people get hung up on some things. We were anticipating something to come up, but nothing did! We got through them in about 20 mins, talked about temples as well and had a great lesson! The people that we're teaching up here are awesome.
The fifth miracle we saw this week was with our friend Fernando. Elder Williams and I put him on date on an exchange a few weeks ago, and ever since then hes been ghosting us. None of our calls go through, and he lives at a facility that's a dedicated masonic temple. I think it's a transitioning place from how he described it, but when we went round to check up on him the receptionist went and got him, but came back and told us Fernando wanted us to leave. We finally got in contact with him yesterday! And he still kinda wants to get baptised! It's been a blast this week and miracles truly abound in the mission!
Our mission president asked us to study Joseph Smith history this week. It's probably the first time I've read it in a while, and the thing I can relate to most in it is when he gets visited by Moroni, and he tries to go work but he passes out on the way home. I can relate to this, not because I've seen an angel or been commanded to translate the fulness of the gospel, but because there have been many days where it's been a really spiritually draining day, and I just wanna sleep for forty days and forty nights. But through the Lord we can have strength and witness these miracles.
Psalm 23:2-3
"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake."
